1973 - Diwan Arun Nanda and Ajit Balakrishnan quit MCM. Rediffusion is founded.

1974 - Rediffusion wins the Postman account.

1976 - Rediffusion wins the Eveready and Godfrey Philips accounts.

1982 - Rediffusion wins the Maruti account.

1984 - Rediffusion pitches for and wins the Colgate business. This almost coincides with Y&R acquiring the Colgate account globally. This common association with Colgate brings Rediffusion and Y&R together in India.

1984 - A turning point in Rediffusion's history. Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, selects the agency to work with him and the Congress Party for strategisation, communication and election advertising.

1988 - Rediffusion wins the TELCO account.

1995 - Dentsu of Japan (billings: $ 16 billion) and the US based Young & Rubicam (billings $12 billion) decide to pick up a 20% stake each in the Indian agency.

The agency strengthens its client base (besides Colgate Palmolive) with Citibank, Ericsson, Lufthansa, Paramount Pictures, United Airlines, Bosch and Nike coming into its fold from Y&R and DY&R. The agency starts work on Denstu clients like Canon, Casio, Fuji Film, Suzuki (with Maruti) in India.

1997 - At a time when the rest of the country was reeling under economic slowdown, Rediffusion had bucked the trend with a 42% growth. Its Sony Audio campaign is a finalist at the London Ad Film festival, and Bhutan Board is a finalist at New York. Canon Camera wins the Asia A&M gold award for advertising effectiveness.

1998 - Rediffusion - DY&R formally assumes a new name, “Rediffusion - Dentsu Young & Rubicam brand communications”. Agency grows by about 30% to Rs. 290 crore. Rediff bags two finalists at Cannes and a record nine at the London International Awards.

2000 - Rediffusion is ranked # 5 among Indian advertising agencies. Also the fastest growing among the top 10 agencies.

2002 - Diwan Arun Nanda is inducted on DY&R's international executive board; he is closely involved in shaping the Singapore-based joint venture company's business in the Asia Pacific region. And more recently, Arun Nanda was appointed to the global governing body of Young & Rubicam, one of the world's leading advertising agencies.

2003 - Rediffusion completes 30 glorious years of making advertising history.

2004 - Launch of Showdiff Worldwide, a first of its kind initiative by an accomplished cricketer (Ravi Shastri) and a professional communication agency (RDYR)

2006 - Rediffusion struck gold at Cannes 2006 with a Gold in Outdoor, Silver in DM (first ever for India) and a nomination in Radio.
